Dozens of new WordPress Plugins are released every single month, which means that anyone that has a wordpress powered website should constantly be on the lookout for these to ensure that their site is completely optimised and up-to-date. Today’s WordPress Wednesday post featured 10 of the newest wordpress plugins that you can find within the wordpress.org plugin directory

1.  Theme-Check

The theme check plugin is an easy way to test your theme and make sure it’s up to spec with the latest theme review standards. With it, you can run all the same automated testing tools on your theme that WordPress.org uses for theme submissions.

The tests are run through a simple admin menu and all results are displayed at once. This is very handy for theme developers, or anybody looking to make sure that their theme supports the latest WordPress theme standards and practices.

2. Lazy Load

Lazy load images to improve page load times. Uses jQuery.sonar to only load an image when it’s visible in the viewport.

3. Portable phpMyAdmin

Portable phpMyAdmin allows a user to access the phpMyAdmin section straight from the Dashboard.  If the user doesn’t know the MySQL credentials, the plugin extracts them straight from wp-config.php. This plugin requires PHP 5+.

4. Better Internal Link Search

8. Dynamic “To Top”

10. WPGPlus

WPGPlus posts your blog posts to Google+ when published on WordPress blog.  Posts are made to “Public” circle. If you include an excerpt (using the post excerpt box, not just the “teaser” before the tag) it will be used, otherwise post-content is used.  This plugin requires PHP 5 and a compatible transport layer for WordPress HTTP API – most likely this means cURL.

A couple of plugins listed here I’ll try-out in the next few weeks (months?). Flexible Recent Posts may work for something I’ve got in mind for one of my sites.
