Everybody love photos especially designers as it’s a crucial part of design and it doesn’t matter which format it is for either print or digital. A lot of designers out there are sick of seeing those ugly cliche stock photos, low quality imagery, photos that you even spend the big bucks for and just use once.
So if you are a designer and are in the search some different stock photos resources then you are at right place, as below I have compiled a list of sites which offers a variety stock photography images which you can use in your either your paper & digital and the sites below are what i call the alternative photo sites aka sites that are not so well known yet but will be in the nearest of future…
1. FoodiesFeed
The first one on the list is a specifically for those who are looking for Foodies pics. This site has bee around since April 2014 as a personal project for Jakub who wish to share his beginner food photos with the world. He didn’t want to let the pictures die on his harddrive and he thought they may be useful for someone else.
2. Realistic Shots
Realistic Shots is a free stock photos site that offers high resolution photos that you can use for personal and commercial use, each week you can find 7 new photos that get publish, Realistic Shots just want to you make something creative!
3. Unsplash
Unsplash is a Free (do whatever you want) hi-resolution photos. where you can find 10 new photos every 10 days, so make sure you subscribe to the site.
4. New Old Stock
New Old Stock is a photo site that shows vintage photos from the public archives. Free of known copyright restrictions, it’s just recapturing history.
5. Pexels
Pexels helps designers, bloggers or basically everyone who is looking for an image to find great photos that you can use everywhere for free. All photos on Pexels are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means you can use them for free for any personal and commercial purpose. Attribution is not required but please just read the photo license agreement on Pexels
6. Barn Images
Barn Images was launched in March 2015 by Igor Trepeshchenok and Roman Drits, two photographers from Latvia. Barn Images was created with the hope of redefining traditional stock imagery. On Barn Images you will find only quality photography that’s fresh, with nothing that duplicates the stock photography you’ll generally find elsewhere.
7. Creative Vix – Free Stock
Creative Vix is a free stock image site that contains a wide range of photos that you can use, all photos on Creative Vix are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means you can copy, modify, distribute and perform the photos. The pictures are free for personal and even for commercial use. All without asking for permission or setting a link to the source. So that attribution is not required. All in all the photos are completely free to be used for any legal purpose.
